COFFEE EDUCATION

Coffee Education - General Coffee Information

Coffee education is a broad term. Here I concentrate at some basic coffee learning issues that I thought are of a general interest.

It does not have anything to do with training classes to become a professional “barista”.

(a) Coffee education I. The early coffee history is examined. Legends and coffee tree expansion are the primary targets.

(b) Coffee education II. Coffee Production from start to finish is scanned. Coffee countries, plantations and manufacturing are thoroughly explained.

(c) Coffee education III. The sensitive subject of coffee and health is investigated. Pros and cons are given in a list of current researches.

Coffee History

Coffee education begins with learning the coffee history. This step improves the understanding on many coffee matters. For instance  how coffee became one of the most important commodities of the world.

The starting point of any lecturer on coffee history will be the coffee legends. People created myths to explain the eruption of coffee. The most known of them is the legend of the dancing goats. The other one is the less known story of Omar the Dervish. Both legends though give a different approach to the discovery of coffee.

Second step is obviously the learning of coffee expansion to the world. The smuggling of fertilized coffee beans from Yemen to India was the set point. Afterwards the merchants took over. With their ships spread coffee cultivation globally.

Coffee Production

Coffee education should also offer constructive knowledge on coffee production issues.First, we list the most important coffee producing countries of our planet. We examine climate factors and species of coffee trees. We give statistics on important aspects of coffee. Most strange and expensive coffee beans are pointed out to cover up the introductory knowledge.

Coffee education in production wouldn’t be complete without giving information on coffee harvesting. How actually the cherries of the coffee plant are converted to coffee beans. All the important steps are mentioned in order to get a full picture of the issue.

A step further, the coffee education will meet the coffee manufacturing methods. The making of raw coffee beans to drinkable granulates is a big process. Roasting, grinding, packaging are the usual phases that bring coffee to supermarkets’ shelves. We examine each one of them and bring you all the necessary information.

Coffee education on production ends with the pros and cons on coffee species that the producers mostly prefer. Arabica vs Robusta is the most usual debate on coffee production panels.

Coffee Health

Finally coffee education is best completed with the touch of the effects of coffee to human beings. Coffee consumption is increasing from year to year. Nowadays coffee is just behind water in human drinking habits.

Learning its possible hazards to health seems as an absolute necessity. Science has improved very much and the discovery of caffeine became an accepted stimulant in the medical field. There is no doubt that any knowledge captured on this subject will be beneficial.
